“A strong woman looks a challenge in the eye and gives it a wink.” -Gina Carey
Despite what the world, and others, may try to tell you, being an woman is an incredible, beautiful thing. Have pride in your identity as a woman. Remember that you are strong, you are beautiful, and you are courageous, and that no one can ever take that from you.

Female and Proud
“As for my girls, I’ll raise them to think they breathe fire.” -Jessica Kirkland
Never be ashamed of who you are. There are those in this world who will try to make you feel inferior because you are a woman, but be proud of your identity as a female and never allow anyone to make you feel like lesser of a person based on your gender.
Embrace your femininity and your identity and learn to love and cherish everything that comes with being a woman. Never doubt your strengths or your abilities, as every woman really is a superwoman.
The Superpowers of Women
“Her intuition was her favorite superpower.” -Unknown

Women have constantly overcome their obstacles and exceeded expectations throughout history. Time and time again we have proven that we possess the courage and power to overcome anything that we are challenged with. Each and every one of us are superwomen in our own right and every one of us has the potential to do incredible things and to make amazing changes in this world.

Women possess great abilities and strengths. We can literally create life! How incredible do our bodies have to be to create a new life inside of us? Women also channel our emotions into empathy and support and can tap into our feelings to provide benefits to others. In addition, women have also been proven to be better at multitasking than men, which explains how single mothers can awe-inspiringly be both successful in the professional aspect of life and raise children, and how a woman never seems to be doing just one thing at a time.

Wonder Women of the Past and Present
“I will fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.” -Wonder Woman

Women have fought against oppression and judgement throughout history and have succeeded time and time again. We have come a long way but there is still a way left to go. Here are some incredible women from the past and the present as a reminder of the strength and abilities of women. Use these women as inspiration when you feel like you can’t succeed.

“You must never be fearful about doing what you are doing when it is right.” -Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks ignited the U.S. Civil rights movement through sparking the Montgomery bus boycott in 1955 when she refused to give up her seat at the front of the bus to a white man. Because of this, she is known as the “Mother of the Civil Rights movement”. She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1996 to recognize her involvement in the Civil Rights Movement and her efforts throughout her life to strive for equality for all.

“There are two powers in the world; one is the sword and the other is the pen. There is a third power stronger than both, that of women.” -Malala Yousafzai

Malala Yousafzai is a globally famous activist for education for women. She was attacked by terrorists when she was just a young teen due to her support of equal education rights, but survived and has been spreading her message across the world. She was the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize ever, at the age of 17. She also spoke in front of the United Nations at only 16 years old.

“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.” -Marie Curie

Marie Curie was the first woman in history to be awarded a Nobel Prize in 1903. This Nobel Prize was in Physics and she was also awarded a Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1911. Curie was the first woman to earn a PhD from a French University in 1903. Obviously, she was a woman of many firsts.

Curie also discovered the element Radium in 1898 (alongside her husband Pierre), and personally provided medical assistance to French soldiers during WWI.

Audrey Hepburn

“I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I believe in miracles.”
-Audrey Hepburn

Known for her stunning beauty, Audrey Hepburn is so much more than just a pretty face. She is one of only twelve people in the world to have been awarded a Grammy, a Tony, an Emmy, and an Oscar. However, Hepburn was doing incredible things far before her acting career as she was part of the Dutch resistance against the Nazi occupation and even performed in secret ballet shows to raise money for the resistance. She was also a volunteer nurse in WWII.

Not only do her amazing accomplishments span far before her celebrity life, they also continue on after she left the acting world, as she was appointed Goodwill Ambassador to UNICEF in 1988.

Emma Watson

“The human race is like a bird, and it needs both of its wings to be able to fly. And, at the moment, one of its wings is clipped and we’re never going to be able to fly as high.”
-Emma Watson

Another actress who has gone on to do truly incredible things both on and off screen is Emma Watson. She has been the Goodwill Ambassador for U.N. Women since 2014 and uses this position to campaign for equal rights for women all across the world. She also earned a B.A. in English Literature from Brown University, despite being financially set for life, due to how valuable she views education to be.

Watson has campaigned in Bangladesh, Zambia, and other parts of the world for women’s right to education, and was incredibly active in the UN’s HeForShe campaign in 2014.

And there are so many other wonder women, just like these incredible ladies: many, countless others. Yourself included.

The Future is Female

“Here’s to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.” -Unknown

As women we have faced decades of oppression and discrimination in various aspects of life, but we are stronger than the past and are striving and fighting harder than ever for a brighter, more equal future. The incredible, driven women of the suffragette movement struggled and suffered for our right to vote, and still today our sisters across the world join together in protest and participate in activist movements to protect and increase our freedoms. We have come a long way, but there’s still more to be done.

Yes, we have made drastic improvements to the lives of women within the United States: we can vote, we can serve in our military, we can own property, we can hold the same jobs as men, and by law we now have all of the same fundamental rights as our male counterparts, but there’s still a disparity between the sexes.

Women still do not make the same as men on the dollar, and there’s still examples of sex discrimination in the workplace to this day. Unhealthy and unrealistic ideas and standards about women still exist in our society, which perpetuate unhealthy, unequal, and harmful relationships between men and women.

However, remember that we shall and will overcome these problems and that true equality is within our grasp, we just need to work together as women and to remain strong. Support your sisters, and together we will change the future. The Future is female.

For those who don’t feel worthy, remember the strength is within you to be whoever you want to be. Always remember that you are worthy.

We as women are incredible, strong, and beautiful human beings who have fought to overcome many struggles and succeeded throughout history. Be proud of your identity as a woman and all of the superpowers that it gives you. Never feel ashamed of who you are and never allow anyone to view you as inferior based on your gender. Embrace life and release your inner superwoman. And remember, always, that the future is female.
